Exploring the Islamic heritages of Al-Andalus' main cities and provinces.
This tour is available for families or organized groups. Our provided local guide and travel assistant are capable of communicating in Arabic, English, French, or Spanish. When visiting certain monuments, we provide our guests with official monument guides. Our specialist, archeologist and calligrapher, Dr. Ihab Al-Oumaoui, frequently leads specialized tours of the Alhambra in association with the Alhambra Patronage Board.
Day 1. Arrival at Malaga/Sevilla/Granada. Transfer to Cordoba.
Pick up at Malaga international airport and transfer to Cordoba (170 km). Handout of our booklet guide, updated with the latest, historical research of Al-Andalus.
Day 2. Cordoba.
Guided visits in the medina of Cordoba. This includes the Cordoba Mosque-Cathedral, Alkasr Royal Palaces, Jewish quarters, old city walls, Live Museum of Al-Andalus, and an opportunity to see the Andalusian courtyard homes, streets and alleys. Alloted free time is given for meals and shopping. Optional visits to the two, active mosques in Cordoba today.
Day 3. Medinat al-Zahra, arrival in Seville.
Morning excursion and tour in Medinat Al-Zahra, the Caliph's court city and, now, palace ruins. This includes a visit to local the museum and expositions. We continue down the Guadalquivir river, making our way to Almodovar del Rio and further toward Seville (150 km). Upon arrival in Seville, we introduce the city by bus tour and check in at the arranged hotel. Free evening for walks and rides in Seville's historical center and riverside.
Day 4. Day tour of Seville, transfer to Granada.
Guided visits in Seville's historical center. This includes the Alkasr Royal Palaces & Gardens, Cathedral of Seville, modern Giralda, Torre del Oro, Jewish quarters, the old medina and city walls, Parque de Maria Luisa, Plaza de España, and the remains of the Almohad courtyard and minaret. After a lunch break, we move swiftly to Granada (260 km).
Day 5. Granada, the last Muslim Kingdom of Al-Andalus. Tour of the Alhambra court city, palaces and gardens.
Guided visit to the Alhambra palatial town, including the Nashrid Palaces, Alkasaba fortress, Generalife summer palace & gardens, and the old medina of the Alhambra. Afterwards, we move on to visit the old medina of Garnatta and it’s main areas, divisions, and city walls. We will visit the Albayzin Mosque at the Mirador de San Nicolas, most famous viewing point of Granada and the Alhambra. After a lunch break, we walk down to the town center, visit the "souq" streets, and the area's most historical points.
Day 6. Departure from Malaga/Sevilla/Granada.
During the departure transfer, you will pass through the Southern mountain ranges of Andalusia, which belonged entirely to the Kingdom of Granada during the last 250 years of Muslim Spain.
