The  7 day tour starts from your moment's arrival until departure, with 5 full days of touring. See the important historical capitals of Al-Andalus and their provinces: Cordoba, Seville and Granada. The tour builds upon The 5 Night Express: An Introduction to Al-Andalus tour, extending your journey toward the Ronda mountain ranges and the Alpujarra valleys.  Check our ‘Holiday Homes’ section, which offers  short-term rental properties in the  cities, mountains, or seaside areas of Spain. We can assist you in selecting  available activities, such as nature tracking and horseback  riding, or even skiing during the winter.  

Our Saturday-to-Saturday, 7 day tour of al-Andalus is tailored for private family or group tours. Touring season for this package is from February to July, or September to December. TOUR ITINERARY:

Explore the Heart of Al-Andalus, its main monuments, cities and provinces. Encounter Muslim Spain's historical paradoxes, presented from the exclusive insight of first-generation, Spanish Muslims since Al-Andalus' fall.

Day 1. Arrival at Málaga, tour to Gibraltar and further to Ronda.

Upon arrival at Málaga airport, we take a bus transfer to Algeciras. There, we have an opportunity to view the rock of Gibraltar, a symbol of the Muslim crossover to Europe and the beginning of Al-Andalus. We spend the night nearby, in the town of Algeciras or La Línea de la Concepcción. Those willing can visit Gibraltar's British town in the evening, though it is not included in our itinerary. (overnight at Ageciras / La Línea (next to Gibraltar) / Ronda)

Day 2. Morning tour of Ronda. Transfer to Cordoba. Overnight at Cordoba.

Getting an early start, we follow the footstep of the first Muslim allies, on their path to Cordoba. On the way, we visit the city of Ronda in the Mountains north of Málaga. Here, we learn about the different historical periods of the Iberian Peninsula, specifically in regards to Muslim Spain. Our tour takes us through the streets and alleyways of the old medina, with various stops, expositions, secret tunnels and the Hammam of Ronda. By evening, we reach Cordoba. After a brief presentation of the city and the hotel check-in, we take a night walk around Cordoba's Mosque/Cathedral. Spend your free evening in Cordoba at a traditional, courtyard tea shops. Or you may consider horseback riding or enjoying a flamenco performance in the city.

Day 3. Tour of Cordoba, visit to Medinat Al-Zahra. Overnight at Sevilla.

Guided visits in the medina of Cordoba. This includes the Cordoba Mosque-Cathedral, Alkasr Royal Palaces, Jewish quarters, old city walls, Live Museum of Al-Andalus, and an opportunity to see the Andalusian courtyard homes, streets and alleys. After a lunch break, we depart Cordoba through Medinat al-Zahra. There we see the Caliph's court city and palace ruins, with a visit to the expositions and museum there. Then we continue down the Guadalquivir river, toward Almodovar del Río, and further on to Seville (150 km). Upon arrival, we introduce the city by bus tour then check-in at the arranged hotel. Night walks, flamenco show, and horse carriage rides are available during your free evening in Seville.

Day 4. Sevilla day tour. Transfer to Granada. Overnight in Granada.

Guided visits in Seville's historical center. Includes the Alkasr Royal Palaces & Gardens, Cathedral of Seville, modern Giralda, Torre del Oro, Jewish quarters, old medina and city walls, Parque de Maria Luisa, Plaza de España and, finally, an opportunity to check out the ruins of the Almohad courtyard and minaret. After our lunch break, we move swiftly toward Granada (260 km).

Day 5. Sevilla. Visit ‘Isla Mágica’ theme park and transfer to Granada. Overnight in Granada.

.On our second day in Sevilla, we explore the latest and largest theme park in Andalucia today; Isla Mágica. There, we may walk around, enjoying the attractions and rides until lunch time. After lunch, we head out to Granada (260 km).

Day 6. Granada, the last Muslim Kingdom of al-Andalus. Tour of the Alhambra court city, palaces and gardens.

Guided visit to the Alhambra palatial town, including the Nashrid Palaces, Alkasaba fortress, Generalife summer palace & gardens, and the old medina of the Alhambra. Afterwards, we move on to visit the old medina of Garnatta and it’s main areas, divisions, and city walls. We will visit the Albayzin Mosque at the Mirador de San Nicolas, most famous viewing point of Granada and the Alhambra. After a lunch break, we walk down to the town center, visit the "souq" streets, and the area's most historical points..

Day 7.

Once we've concluded with Al-Andalus' main cities in the South of Spain, we have several, different options for continuing the tour. A decisions will be based according to the group's interests, time and budget. Please consult our partnering agents for their seasonal tours and your group's selection choices.

Option 1.

Visit the Alpujarra valleys and mountains. Tour continues with a visit to the Alpujarra mountain region of Granada, one of the final places to see Islam in Spain. During the day-long tour, we witness and learn about the lifestyles present in Al-Andalus, during the last days of Muslim Spain. This day excursion may conclude in either Granada or Malaga, with an overnight stay.

Option 2.

Free day in Granada for walks, tours, workshops, entertainment and shopping. Please check the workshop options available. For groups sizes of at least 15, we can offer any calendar courses, if booked a week ahead of time. You can also check our Workshop Agenda.

You may consider having a completely free day in Granada to relax, shop or make further traveling arrangements. During such a free day, we can offer walks, entertainment, activities, special meal arrangements, workshop programs, and other great ways to enjoy the city.

Day 8. Departure from Malaga international airport.

It's time for departure and our tour concludes in Granada. A bus transfer to Malaga airport is arranged, leaving the hotel 4 hours before flight departure. Free time before departure day is yours to do as you please.

Terms & Conditions:: Our 3-4 star town-center, hotel accommodations are included in the price; 35-40€/night/person/bed & breakfast. Alternatively, we have a selection of picturesque, clean hostels starting at 20€/night/person/bed & breakfast. Apartment accommodations in the historical center, with minor differences, start around 35€/person/night. Prices do not include meals, but these can be arranged for groups; snacks or lunch range from 10-15€/person, and group dinner events from 20-25€/person. Halal catering available for groups over 15 people. This tour includes a local, Muslim guide/assistant. For a higher standard tour, we offer archaeologist and calligrapher, Dr. Ihab Al-Oumaoui, at an additional cost between 10-15€/day according to group size.
