Within one of Granada's most historical quarters, the Albayzin, there are many renovated, Andalusian style houses with apartments, some  dating back to the Nazari Islamic period. Within the unique location of the Costa Tropical, around 40 minutes from Granada we meet Salobreña. The castle of Salobreña was one of the most fecuented summer palaces by the old Nazari Dynasty. The next village along is Almuñecar. This is where AbdulRahmãn the first Ummayad Emir of al-Andalus first landed in Spain. Today we will find Almuñecar is a summer focused touristic focus. Anyhow the town still displays an interesting historical hill crowned by a X Centruty fortress Islamic Castle. We will also find a demonstration of the local benign tropical climate in the exotic palm tree specimens sometimes unique in Europe. Continuing along the coast, now only abuot 70 km from Malaga, we reach La Herradura. The bay offers tranquility to residents and visitors alike. The villas in this area are literally overhanging the Mediterranean sea. Once you try the fish grill or sea food paella just 15 m. away from the sea at night, you won't want to leave this location. If we are to continue towards Malaga we will find Nerja which is rather more developed and does indeed count with a large community of foreign residents all year around, hence creatins somewhat of an international market. We skip Malaga except for in the Historical Town Apartment section and we leave Torremolinos only for airport arrival and departure at mainstream hotel options. Approaching the Marbella area, west from Malaga, we will still find some nice properties available right up until La Duquesa, close to Gibraltar.
